Default Feels like a slip in 3rd

2005.5, 3.2 Quattro, 56k miles

In regular automatic drive it feels like a slight slip in 3rd. The shifting from 1st to 3rd is fine but about a second into 3rd the RPM drops slightly (about 100-200) then goes back up. It feels like a slip but it does not do the same in sport or while manual speed shifting. Any other owners experience this?

I fluid change would probably solve your issue.

Since it works well in sport mode I would think it is just the normal training lag when changing gears. I know if my car in regular mode the shift from 2nd to 3rd always feels to soon and the car loses some get up and go. I think that is intentional to push the mpg up. Not to mention if the trans is slipping the RPMs should go up not down.

MAF SENSOR ISSUE (clean it or replace it). Unplug it and drive arround with no MAF to see the diff
Also rough idling when cold will be resolved. and gear slipping .

It took me a hours on the internet to find this problem. At first I thought its the transmission then the motor mounts then the coils then the throttle body then the tranny filter and fluids then the spark plugs then the cv joints then the fuel filter .....

AT the end it was simple as that . MAF sensor .
