Question Dyno tested my 08 CVT A4 FWD

Hey guys,

a few weeks ago my friend offered to dyno test my A4 CVT 2.0T

Problem was he could not get a good pull w/it.

To me, it seemed like the brakes were being applied & releasing the whole time.

Only one pull ( the first one) worked OK sorta, but it just stayed in one gear, we could not get the trans to shift in any other gear selction. IIRC, it just stayed in "D"?

Any ways, is there something we need to disconnect to get it to run properly on the dyno?

Is it because the rear wheels were not spinning or??

Thanks

If you have a CVT, it doesn't shift gears. That's the nature of a CVT.

Question

Thank you.
I know it does not shift. There are however numbers 1-7 for gear selection.
I selected shifter in the "S" mode & I can not see any gear select numbers on the instrument panel.

Any body ever dyno there CVT A4 here? There must be some reason I could not get the car to work w/the dyno.
I used a dyna pak dyno. Dynapack

Thanks

Did you disable ESP? If there were no gears showing, it seems somehow it didn't actually get into S mode. However, it's probably better to put it over in manual mode, anyway, so it will hold a gear until you want it to change.

Yes I did.
I selected the "S" mode w/the shifter, the gear numbers never showed in the dash gauges.

it's a tiptronic auto trans. when in D mode, push the shifter to the right and you can manually select the gear.

My A4 has a CVT trans.
I put the shifter in manual & "S" mode, the gear numbers would never show up.
