Clunk Noise when Braking / Accelerating / Turning hard
Hoping someone can help me out with an issue I am having with my 06 Audi A4...
I hear a clunking noise when I turn hard, brake hard or accelerate hard. The noise is coming from the front of my car, and appears to be something with my suspension.
When I turn left really hard at a decent speed, I will hear a single clunk. When I turn left and go up a hill at the same time, I hear 2 or 3 clunks. After I hear the noise, I can turn hard left again and again, but I wont hear anything. In fact, I won't hear the noise until I make a hard right turn.
The same thing happens when I accelerate / brake hard. If I hear the noise when I brake hard, I can brake hard all day and it won't come back. But as soon as I hit the gas hard from a standstill, I hear it again.
Seems like something is shifting...
I was told by a mechanic I had a bad lower control arm. So instead of paying $900 for one control arm, I replaced every single control arm and sway bar (upper and lower), for about $1,200 with installation... But the noise is still there.
I brought it to a different mechanic who told me I had bad strut mounts... Another $1000 to fix.
Could this be the issue?

If you had a front wheel drive I would tell you it sounds like a cv joint going bad. Does sound like some kind of mount. Have you had the engine and trans mounts checked? I would think a strut mount would be noisey going over bumps not just from braking/acceelerating, but am unsure.
