Thanks.

Vag to RTW is using the VAG-COM hardware/software to reprogram your car to think it's in a non-US country (Rest of The World). In US cars the turn signals will be on whenever your headlights are on... not blinking, just solid orange. In RTW, the turn signals only come on to blink. Unfortunately, it doesn't actually seem to work on the Cabriolet, so I got rid of it, just haven't removed from my sig yet.

The boost gauge (Podi is just the brand) shows the air pressure at the intake manifold, which is a combination of throttle setting and how hard your turbo is running.

This may not be completely related to the thread, but so many discussions
about chipping in this forum gets one thinking.

Why is the the stock A4 the way it is(sucks, compared to a chipped one)? Obviously
the engine and body can handle the increased torque and power from chipping,
barring a few parts that'll blow and need to be replaced.

It's not like it's an inexpensive car. So many other brands offer more bhp for
lesser price. Isn't it in Audi's best interests to up the A4 stock performance? Or is
that they're trying to increase the sales of the S-Line? Or some other reason
I can't imagine?

My 2 cents ...

I could be soo wrong here, but, as I see it, they're gaining market share with low price-to-entry with high value cars at this price point.

The A4 is their highest selling vehicle, and even the base model, base trim package is a very nice car relative to the rest of the market for this size vehicle.

And, once they gotcha, they gotcha, no?

I totally agree. It's a nice car and think handles better
than other cars(though have limited driving experience with
other cars).

What I meant is, why would they kind of "clamp" the stock
one, when the car is capable of doing lot more, as the chipping proves?
It would be in Audi's better interests not to do so, one would
think?

because of issues with warranty and such....for many people that kno audis are not cheap to fix....and they offer a great warranty that covers pretty much everything....so if they put an added stress on the engine and could potentially cuase issues as little as withen 5 years of ownership they could be losing alot of money in the long run by making the car seem more appealing in the short run

plus...nobody buys an a4 for performance....i mean yeah the car handles like a dream and the pick up is adequate but the serious person looking for alot of performance for the same amount of money could just get an sti for the same price that handles just as good

and if they still want the audi name....you have the s4 and rs4 to choose from

its a buisiness decision, and a pretty smart one at that....they have a product, it sells very well....why add something to it that could cause issues in the long run when you know that people are going to chip it anyway and in some cases (people that don;t stand up for themselves) can say it voids a warranty and they make even more money off of it

it sucks, but thats the way it is

Diverter valve. It recirculates excess boost when you let off the throttle.

Also, the TT has the same engine wth over 260hp. It's all in the marketing. You can't have your sedan running right up there with your Sport 4cyl model.
