I want to replace the cabin air filter in my A4. The dealership will charge me $60 or so to do it. I've seen instructions online to do it myself, and a helpful video by Bentley Publishing on youtube. It looks like something I can definitely do. However, I do not know which cabin filter to buy. I'd like the OEM cabin filter, but can't find the part number. EuropaParts has one by Mann; is that the OEM part? Ecstuning has a filter from Meyle and a filter from NPN. One is charcoal - not sure I need that. (BTW, I know I do not want the K&N filter.) Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

The OEM part number is 8E0819439 for a non charcoal version at 13.65, and the charcoal version is 4B0819439C for 27.38 dollars. Both in stock. These don't have any other brand names on the filter or box other than Audi.

I googled the parts numbers, and to my surprise, the thing that came up on top of the search was the Made-in-China website. I guess everything is made in China these days, even Audi "OEM" parts. But I'd have to expect that something like an air filter would not be made in Europe. Oh well, it's not like it's a complicated part which has low tolerance levels or anything. It's just an air filter. I'll order it straight away.

That's funny! I've punched in part numbers to Google and come up with many hits but not made in China. When I was at Porsche, I'd look at the Porsche hood crest and those said made in China too. I haven't looked at one in a while, maybe it was a short run where they were doing that. But of all the parts to make in China, that's the last thing I'd expect to see made anywhere other than Germany.
