Default Buying first Audi: 3.2 or 2.0T? Quattro or no?

Just went and drove my first Audi an hour ago, a 2007 2.0T A4 S-Line. The salesman said other options available are the 3.2 6 cyl and the quattro version. Im looking for a daily driver.

Would you get the 2.0T or the 3.2?

Would you get the quattro or not?

Here is the car I looked at, he said they would take $23,500. Just dont know if I should find one with a 3.2 or the quattro version before committing to this one.

Really- what is a more fair price then?

This one I found is Quattro, has NAV and said he would sell it for $23,900-what do you think? I agreed verbally to buying it tonight and having it shipped to Texas.

I could not tell from the link what the mileage was. I guess it depends on what you want from your daily driver. If this will be your "sports car" and you care about handling and driving it harder, want the better acceleration - then go for the S version. On the other hand in my scenario, I wanted a daily driver to work and I was focused on gas economy, car looks and occasionally putting the top down. Precise handling and acceleration were not a big factor. I actually went for the 2 wheel drive since I will never take this into the snow/harsh conditions. but I have a sports car that I get those thrills out of. Price seemed in-line. I would also request that it goes through a PPI unless your are getting a certified audi with warranty. Also they may or may not do this (some service managers were too busy) but if you have the VIN#s and go to an audi dealer service dept, they can look up the service histories on the car. It helped me eliminate one of the audi's I was looking at that just seemed to have a lot of small issues constantly.

The six will run smoother than the four, that is just a fact of physics. I have the 2.0t quattro, with manual, and it seems pretty peppy, and gets good gas mileage. Its quicker than my VR6 Jetta that I had. The quattro will improve handling. Audi's are typically nose heavy even in quatto form. The weight bias is even worse with the front drive. Quattro is your best friend in lousy weather.

Actual gas mileage between the 2.0T and the 3.2 is much much closer than the quoted ratings. i.e. I have gotten 32MPG in our 2008 A6 Avant with 4 adult passengers and a moderately full load in the rear. I have gotten 31+MPG with A/C on and 70+ cruise control with the A4. These numbers are for averages over hundreds of miles.

I have the A4 B7 3.2 S-Line 6MT, and my wife has the A6 C6 Avant 3.2 Tip.

Your decision should be based on what you like/dislike with each of these cars and what your end goal is for such a car and if you wish to mod them (and how far you want to mod them).

I love naturally aspirated engines and I love supercharged engines and I don't dislike turbo charged engines.

Each has its place among us car nuts. Decide which nut you want to be and go for it.
