the best way is to dry it immediatly after washing....but if its just rain.....an old t shirt and a little rubbing should take care of it....maybe a little water?

I got water stains from a sprinkler with who knows what nasty crap in the water. I ended up using CLR. I poured a little on a damp rag, and then scrubbed. It took care of the buildup, but still left marks that will have to be polished out.

to drive you guys nuts...do not look at the upper chrome that is hidden by your hood above the grill. my other chrome is okay without water stains but on top of that piece near the radiator that you cannot see till u open the hood has lots of stains...was using elbow grease to get em out!

personally i wouldn;t recommend using CLR anywhere on your car especially chrome that is very close to your exterior paint....if that spills or gets onto your clearcoat consider it gone

Ha ha, well, I actually used CLR on the paint, too. The buildup was real nasty... I tried washing, waxing, light polishing compound, to no avail.

yeah....clr on paint is most def not what u want to put on ur paint, if stuff really won't come off (most likely a devasting bird dropping or bug and tar stuff) use a clay bar....clay bar will not damage the clearcoat at all.....clr is some pretty serious stuff i hope u diluted the solution

Yeah, I didn't want to use it, either. I had tried clay bar, too, but that didn't do anything. So yeah, I diluted it.

Default Vinegar

I have used white vinegar and warm water to get water spots off of various car surfaces with no damage... Paint chrome and aluminum...
