Default audi service techs are the smartest people in the world

ok so i just dropped off my car for the 35,000 mile service at my audi dealer

i gave them instructions to replace the cam follower and keep the old one so i could see the wear n tear on it in addition to the 35k service

they called me this morning "uhh yeaaa we cannot replace the cam follower as its "preventative matinence" and not covered under your warranty. we cover the cam lobe, and the cam should the cam follower wear and damage those parts"

(me) "right but i have 5k miles until my warranty craps out and if the cam follower goes after that and my cam lobe is damaged i will be paying a rediculous amount of money to fix that problem so really the warranty isn;t going to cover my damage"

"right"

(me) "so can you just replace the $70 cam follower so i dont have this problem after the warranty?"

"ughh we can look into that"

(me)"so really this is the same as saying 'well we dont cover changing the oil on ur warranty as thats preventive matience, however, if your engine dies as a result of old oil we can replace that under warranty"

"ughhh we'll call you back sir"

any help on how i can get my cam follower replaced?

unfortunately the only way I have gotten my way with dealerships is to just flip out after being told no .. they never want to turn anyone down esp with the failing economy

My dealership didn't want to do it either, but it looks like an easy job so I'll order a cam follower from ECS Tuning and install it myself... much cheaper

All the fuel lines can stay connected to the fuel pump and just move the pump slightly out of the way. If they won't do it then spend 10 minutes and do it yourself.
