The cars you were looking at were not AWD if they had CVT tranny's. Just not a combo used. You can get the tiptronic or 6 speed both of which are better than CVT.

A3 did not have the 2.0t and AWD until recently. 09 or 2010, not sure so anything older with the A3 will be FWD only or 6cyl if you want AWD.

Looks like you may be back to A4's if you want an older one but again, they are very heavy and are not going to be fast. You will need a chip just to get out of your own way.
