any 2.0T's NOT burn oil
i am looking to buy an a and considering <2005 just because i can not see buying a luxury car that burns oil. i have read all the threads here, the audi dealer says that this happens at a rate of about a quart / 1,000 mi. but the private dealer i want to buy from says this 2.0T 2005.5 does NOT burn oil. what do you guys think???
Also, 2005 1.8T or 2007 2.0T???

Based on the nature of a turbo car's piston to wall clearances, there is a better chance that it will suck oil into the heads and intake. This will burn up the oil (oil consumption), which is another engine hazard all together.
For the consumption, you can try using a recommended heavier weight oil. Ask your mechanic or do some research online.
To prevent oil and gunk getting into the intake tract and intercooler, consider a universal oil catch can. This can extend the life of your engine considerably.
Finally, you could look into an oil pan spacer if you're at all concerned about oil starvation.
It is accepted that a performance car driven as such and turbo'd cars will consume some oil, but not like the volume consumed by my stock engine in my 06 350z.

Mine doesn't. I bought a 2006 A4 2.0T quattro with 35k miles on it about 3 months ago, have put about 4k miles on it since then and the oil level is fine. Maybe I'm a lucky one? A quart/1k miles seems like an awful lot even for a performance or turbo-charged engine.

With normal driving you shouldn't burn a lot of oil at all...maybe at the most 1 qt in between oil changes...but it all depends on how you drive. If you are always in boost, then you will burn more oil.
I have always had turbo or supercharged vehicles and this is common for them to burn oil...your right foot will determine how much and how quickly. Just like any car, you should always check your fluid levels regularly.
If you are going to do any modding, then invest in a Oil Seperator or a Catch Can and it will help out tremendously.
If you don't want to have to do any of these...than don't buy a car with a turbo or supercharger

Mine burns oil but maybe a quart every 5k miles or so, nothing like what you posted, if you change every 5k instead of 10k you shouldnt have to add any oil between changes. Its not a big deal, just buy 6 quarts at each oil change instead of 5 and keep 1 quart in the trunk incase the oil low light comes on.
