2006 A4 3.2L automatic vs Benz 3.2L quality
I have been hooked on mercedes the past 7yrs, and i am freightened about a 2006 Audi A4 automatic with 110,000 miles that i left a deposit on today at a local dealer. Everything looks and appears to work perfectly, but the car has very high milage for a unfamiliar car. I could not walk away from the $10,000 usd dealer negotiated price. Its black with custom audi wheels and it has every option except navigation and AWD.
Any common major problems that I should be looking for before I finalize the purchase???
Is it possible to make it on the original transmission and engine with 230,000 miles like my 1997 and 1998 mercedes e320's that i drive every day with not tow truck calls? What is the highest milage seen on a 3.2 A4 automatic??
It has a very slight delay (almost like a slight turbo lag) when shifting/pulling off from a stop, but i was told this was normal. Is this correct??
Bottom line is this a smart purchase with high milage? It is being sold by a very reputible BMW dealer that has offer it to me 5,000usd below retail book value with mileage adjustment.
I was getting bored with the 3 older mercedes and wanted to replace one and throw in this newer 2006 model into the mix. Bought a 2000 CLK convertible with 120k miles a year ago and it is solid as the other 3.2l wagon and sedan I own. I am counting on Audi German engineering to be just as solid but am unsure since everyone in the south tends to own Rams and F250 trucks (Are'nt may audi owners to get feedback from!!).

Do it man, at 5K below KBB, if it turns out too much for you, you can dump it with minimal to no out pf pocket losses. YOu'll have fun with it in the meantime.
When buying a used Audi its like Dirty Harry said, "Do you feel lucky? Well, do ya..........PUNK?"
