Default Transmission issues???

I'm having a problem with my 2003 a4 transmission, at least that's what i think is wrong with it. the car starts up just fine and seems normal. the issue starts when i put the car into gear. (it's automatic...) sometimes it goes in and sometimes it just revs. when it goes into gear for the first 5-10 minuets. it makes a whining noise, then slowly away. when i'm on the highway crusing at about 55mph and accelerating to 60mph, my rpms flutter while climbing up. also when i'm sitting at 60-65 mph and just crusing. my rpms stay at 2900-3100 rpm. and when i release it, it only drops to 2200 rpms. now almost every time i come to a stop and try to accelerate it just revs up to about 5000 rpms and just kinda creaps along till i get going. or it will rev up to 4000 rpm and as i let go of the gas, just kinda slams itself back into gear. i brought it to my local shop and ask them if my tranny fluid was low. they told me that it was not. i then called my audi dealer and asked how much would it be to do a replacement. i about just droped dead when they told me, but he said it would be $7300.00 just to replace it. any info would be helpfull. thanks.

From the sound of it you have a CVT transmission. It basically means that you are screwed. If your lucky only your TCM is bad and you can have that rebuilt quicker elsewhere other than audi. If is your tranny bad you can get a rebuilt one for about $5000.00.
