Transmission drain and fill or flush. No vag com!?
I have an issue with a bucking feeling when engine/tranny is cold. Specialized Audi shop said internal transmission was the culprit. I tried pumping some BG transmission conditioner in and it improved the buck. Although Audi ATF is "lifetime" I am going to drain, replace filter/gasket, and fill.
I bought a kit from Blauparts.com and have all the tools to do the procedure... EXCEPT A VAG COM. I have heard I can buy a cheap amazon 10$ cable and use that with vcds lite. If so can someone link the right cable?
Otherwise I am going to try without one. I have seen a couple posts but not one without a vag com. My basic procedure is going to be to add some bg tranny cleaner and drive the car for a couple minutes. Then remove drain plug and drain. Next, remove pan and filter, and clean pan. Replace filter and pan. Remove fill plug and pump fluid until is runs out. Then have someone start the car and let idle while I pump more fluid. Then they go through the gears (10 seconds each) while I fill. Go through gears again while I fill. My only issue is I'm not sure when to stop. I know it should take about 5/6 quarts. How long does it take until the tranny fluid reaches 40 degrees Celsius? I do have a laser thermometer that might work (point at tranny pan).
Any help/suggestions is much appreciated!
