I have a question about tints. I just bought an '02 black B6 6MT a couple weeks ago and am just beginning to mod it. In Vermont, where I live, the law states that the rear windows and rear windshield can be any shade, while the front windows cannot be tinted at all. Since my car is black, I want to go all the way and tint it 5% in the back. Now my concern is with the front: do cops actually care about this, and will they actually pull you over and give you a ticket? I suppose that generally differs from city to city, but I want to go +/- 50% in the front WITHOUT getting pulled over. I have a number of tickets under my belt and don't feel like getting more for something as stupid as too-dark tints. Has anyone else gotten pulled over for this/gotten a ticket for it? Should I just go middle finger to the law and do it anyway? Let me know what you think.

Also, I'm debating whether or not I should have it done professionally. DIY kits are about half the cost but look to be a pain in the ***. Anyone have any experience with this either?

& if you have never tinted windows you WILL NOT be able to do it your self. TRUST ME. pay someone to do it, its worth it. & I would say F the law get it tinted like 50 percent. You can barly tell when a car is tinted at 50 percent.

 

1) dont do them yourself..if u mess up they will be a bitch to take off
2) i say go 5% all around..where i live in NJ every1 has tints and the cops dont care..idk how the cops are around u though

 

About the cops- i dont know about your area.
I already got 2 tickets $20 each and recently i got a STATE ticket!!! for that. But when i went to the Police Station, a cop on duty was also confused why i was given that kind of a ticket for tinted windows. i got 20% all around.
BTW, just my IMHO. It doesnt look that nice if u got different % in the front and rear. Just go with lighter tints like 50% if u are afraid if cops.
And yeah, better give that to a shop unless u have some extra time to try that yourself.

 

I got 5% all the way around. No problem with cops and ive been pulled over a number of times on street and at the beach. No cop ever said anything to me about my tints only why they pulled me over. And i did my tint on my own had no problems. Guess it just luck or something.
