After doing some more reading of customer reviews on tirerack.com, I found another option to consider - anybody here got any experience with the Yokohama Advan S.4? People with Audis who bought from tirerack seem to almost universally love them, whereas Audi owner reviews for some of the other tires I've been looking at were less common and more mixed in nature.

Michelins get good reviews too, but they're also considerably more expensive. I don't mind paying for quality, but I do mind paying extra if there's something cheaper that's just as good.

Looks like they've actually got one of those sales going right now - makes me wish even more than usual that I had the spare cash, as the options I'd like to go with would cost over $100 less than they normally do. That said, they seem to do that sort of deal often enough that by the time I've got the cash to do it, it probably won't be too long of a wait before it's on sale again.

yeh, sadly for me, it was either before they thought to run such a special, or between cycles and I was ignorant to their ways...

i'd go for the conti extreme contact DWS. i'm getting them for both cars next spring. i've done research and you can check the surveys from tirerack.com too. conti's are the best tires out there.

i have pirelli P6's on the audi and i'm not too happy with the quick tread wear.

Well, I tried to get the contis, but they were backordered 12 weeks out, and I couldn't wait that long, so I ended up going with the Yokohama ADVAN S.4, and so far, I'm quite pleased with them. Wet and dry traction are both excellent. I can take cloverleafs at speeds that would have had my old tires howling in pain with not even a hint of squeal, let alone loss of traction. They also seem to resist hydroplaning much better than the old tires, but given the tread depth I had left on the old ones, that would probably have been true regardless of what new tire I got.

Haven't had any snow here yet, so I guess I'll see how they do when it shows up, which here in MN could be anywhere from tomorrow to January - the only thing you can predict about the weather around here is that it'll be unpredictable.

I put Continental ExtremeContact DWS on my 03 A4 and LOVE them! Do great in wet and dry environments!

I will vouch for the Yokohamas. 20000 miles so far and no regrets.

Just got our first really big snowstorm here in MN, and I can now say that the Yokohamas I bought work quite well in the snow.
