talked to my mechanic today and...
we were discussing the turbo repairs and came onto the subject of timing belts, i asked him, since mine was done at 92k by the previous owner, and the car has 151k on, doesnt it make sense to change it between 160k-165k and he pulled out a service manual and showed me that the 2002-2003 a4's timing belts are to be replaced at 100k not 70k, audi lowered it to 70k starting with the 2004+ models. any insight on this? it struck me as surprising...

My manual says 105k and most forum members recommend 75-90k. I changed it the first time at 94k and it is going in next month at roughly 185k for the second TB. Caveat -- I drive mostly highway and generally avoid hard acceleration, so my miles have been long but relatively easy.
