Stock stereo, no lights, no rear speakers, and it comes on without the key
So in my 2002 a4, 1.8t, I have the stock Symphony II stereo. The one that came in the car would turn in with out the key, so you have to remember to turn it off. Also the lights on the radio only do not work, but the display does. Also I seem to have no rear speakers, but am not sure if that was the way it was or that happened some time after I got the car.
So I bought a replacement, and same thing. So I was digging around in the back of the stereo for loose wires and found a group of wires that have no connector. So to the back of the radio, there are 2 antenna looking wires, 2 plastic plugs that fit the radio (1 brown, 1 black), and then this pigtail of six or so wires with no ends.
My car is basic, no special radio features. Is the missing connector my problem?

I think someone had an aftermarket radio installed in your car.
They probably cut it out and shoved the stock radio back in when they sold it.
Audi puts connectors on everything. Harnesses are generic designed to fit all applications which means a connector will be there even if a module isn't
