Update: After doing a lot of searching I found that this is a common problem with the torque app and audi/vw. It actually said I had a boost spike of 56 psi.

I recently bought a b6 1.8t quattro and I setup the android torque app which seems to be working well. The boost usually stays about 5-9 psi when accelerating moderately, but when I go WOT it spikes up to 30 psi and seems to stay at 16-17 psi. I just can't imagine this is normal behavior. The car seems to have the correct 170hp and is running fine in all other aspects. Does anyone know what is going on? Is this normal?

Update: I just did another test/log and I had a spike of 30 psi! I hope the torque application is wrong.
