Sprayed the throttle body and now I have a CEL!!
OK first of all I SEARCHED!!!!!!! Nothing.

So today I decided to borrow a buddy to help me clean the throttle body. Disconnected the intercooler hose that leads to the TB and had my buddy fire up the engine. He had to keep it revved high so the engine wouldn't quit. As he gunned the gas pedal and the TB opened, I'd spray CANADIAN TIRE THROTTLE BODY CLEANER into the tb.... Did this a few times and then turned the car off, reconnected everything and drove it to the drug store only 3 kms away. No problem. Then I go to meet my GF at a restaurant 20kms away and the whole time I have a lit up drawing of an engine. I'm assuming this is my check engine light. Well the CEL has been on since and I REALLY hope it will go away but I'm not sure. I followed the TB cleaner instructions on the can. This brand of generic MOTOMASTER Throttle Body cleaner contains toluene, xylene, acetone, isobutane and methanol. Now the only thing I think I may have done wrong is have the tb opened wide while spraying directly into the TB but I don't know.
On a side note, my coolant has been leaking and this has been causing the rad fans to go on WHEN THE CAR IS COLD. The fans then turn off when it's up to running temp. Now I have checked the oil and there is no milky film on the dipstick, nor is there any hint of a sweet smell on the oil filler cap.
Quite honestly, the car is running better than ever and the only thing freaking me out is the CEL. Can someone plase shed some light on this for me?I'llget my buddy with Vagcom to pull the codes in a few days butif anyone hashad this problem and can help that would be great!
Thanks in advance

Just reset the car, the car running w/o the ic hooked up caused the cel. And next time, take 5 mins to remove the TB from the car [:@] You dont have crap that you are trying to get rid of go into the engine

Thanks guys. Now just to be clear in order to reset the car I'll need to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes BUT, don't I need the code to the radio so I don't get locked out or something? I remember reading something to that extent while doing my search. What about the gasket? Can I just find that at the dealership?
Thanks
Thanks

Pulling the battery will work. You shouldnt need the code, but still should have it. You can get new gaskets from ecstuning for cheaper than the dealer.

Hey gus thanks again for the help... The CEL went out so I guess it was the car's way of punishing me for doing something bad.... Oh well. At least now I know to remove the TB next time instead of just spraying a bunch of crap into it.
