Default Running without Belly pan cover

After replacing the screws holding the belly pan cover couple of times and struggling with putting it back on after every oil change, I was wondering what would happen if I just leave the belly pan out and don't put it back.

Is there any downside? I would assume it keeps the engine cleaner and probably better aerodynamics? I live in CA so it is not like it is raining all the time or anything...

What do you think?

Thanks
Serkan

actually its a pain and I know what you mean so consider cutting a hole where the filter is and the drain plug and keep the plastic pan in place

It is a good idea to keep the pan, although quite a few people have removed it or had it torn off because they are so low. I have considered cutting an access hole for the drain plug, but I think I will just suck the oil out through the dip stick. The filter can easily be changed from on top so that is not a problem. I just remove one bolt and the connector on the windshield washer bottle and tip it out of the way.

captain,

is it a good practice to suck the oil from the dip stick? Wouldn't that leave residue (probably quite a lot too).
They used to do this all the time back in my country, and it would be really quick to have the oil changed too however I haven't seen it done here in US. They used to use a pretty big dolly type tool that does that...

Thanks

well after a quick research, I found this. I don't know if any body used this on our cars but it looks interesting....

I have a Topsider Oil changer that I have used for over 20 years, it is a very handy tool when working on boats. I believe you can actually get more oil out of the Audi using one of these, you can also do it while the engine is still hot without burning your fingers. Someone on audizine reported they used one and then pulled the plug and no oil came out. That is good enough for me.
