Red oil light

Red oil light
I got my oil changed a couple days ago and driving home yesterday from my work my red oil light came on and started blinking.
I went to the store and came back out and it wasnt on then right as i got home it came on again before i parked. I let my car cool down and looked at my oil level to see if anything happened and it is where it should be.
I have a 2003 audi a4 1.8t fwd, I know there was a recall for oil sludge but If i remember right audi delearship said my car was taken in by previous owner for it.

If Audi has already touched the car once for that recall and it hasn't been an issue for quite some time, I doubt they will render additional services for free on the same issue because in their eyes, they have already corrected the recalled components.
If I remember correctly, I believe there are two oil pressure sensors within our cars: One upper, and one lower. It is possible that you could indeed have a sensor going bad which is why the light came on and then went off. Do you have any other on going issues with the car? Is the car overheating by any chance?

no the car isnt over heating or anything. Sometime i get the smell or hot oil after driving but i think that is because i just got a oil change.
I got a letter in the mail though about a gearbox recall and if you have had to fix it they will pay you for it, I know my car jerks sometimes starting from a stop or changing gears (automatic) would they pay to fix it or is it if it breaks and i fix it they reimburse me

So after it disapearing for days it has come back so i went straight to the audi delearship.
They are saying it is sludge and it may be covered under the recall they will have to call AoA to see if they want to pay for it or not. I am going to drop it off for the day tomorrow or Wednesday for them to look at it. They said AoA want the service records to see if it was serviced every 10k to see if they will pay for it unfortunately I did not have it serviced every 10k just the oil change every 5.

Also they said it could be because of my oil filter, they said there are two different types the original one which is small and the revised one which is a lot bigger which could also be causing the red oil light to come on, anyone heard of that?

I used a stupid FRAM oil filter one time because I thought I had a OEM Mann one on hand in the garage (Black one) but go figure, I couldn't find it after I dumped the old oil and pulled the old oil filter. I had to run down and get a crappy FRAM one from the local auto place. Yeah... I saw the red light of death, but I also had a light to moderate overheating issue at the same time that I've since corrected. I can certainly see a crappy filter causing an issue.
As for waiting around and still driving it... Be careful.
