Default question about running lean

First off i have a 02 audi a4 1.8t. I started modding my car by just putting on a 3inch test pipe and a air box mod. My last mod was doing the air box and my dad is telling me that im leaning out the car and im going to blow it. Is this true or not.

Are you getting any codes? If not, I doubt you're running lean. Exactly what air box mod did you do on a b6? As far as the test pipe goes, do you have an exhaust to go with it?

The only code i know i have is a catalytic converter. I did the air box exactly like this on the audizine website. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=168510
My test pipe is just hooked up with the stock exhaust and plan on sticking with that because their exhaust system are a little expensive.

Marcus,
You'll be fine, don't worry about it. Your dad is just jealous. LOL Like you mentioned about, the cel is on because you removed the catalytic converter. APR and other companies have chips(ecu flash) with high flow cat files which eliminates the cel. There are also 02 foulers that are "supposed" to make the cel go away. Works for some, doesn't for others.

But you can't do much with 600hp in an rx-7 unless it's tubbed bc you won't have any traction!

it would have no traction in 1st through 3rd but 4th and 5th it had traction, it wasnt insane loss of traction though rotary motors dont produce allot of torque.

you can be running lean without a CEL, BUT that would be a minor problem... When your ECU receives bad lean signals, you get a CEL.
And yes, running very lean can damage your engine.
