Default Quart oil overfil on 1 8T Engine

I had a check engine light on once, I Disconnected the batt for about 10 min and it was gone, if not I think a autozone or something to that effect can do it for free... Let me know if you need to know how to reset the oil sevice thingy

The question is "How far above the full mark on the dipstick is the bottom of the crankshaft?"

I don't know the answer to that, but I bet your local Audi service does (or can get it for you).

Another problem with too much oil is the change in oil pressure at the turbo. This can cause seals to start leaking prematurely.
Very good question? Any qualified techs on here able to confirm? I don't want to call Audi in the risk that it may upset the warranty. I'm guessing 0.8 of a quart is probably borderline, but like most here I would just be guessing.

Dude.. I answered in your other thread... over filling the oil is BAD. What Lyman told you is exactly right. And, while the amount of overfill varies before the crank is in the oil, just having it closer is very bad due to a thing called 'windage'. Google is your friend if you wanna look it up.

The question is, now that the extra oil is out, how is the motor?

And you don't have to identify yourself to Audi Service, tdoyle. Just call, ask for service, and the ask how much oil is too much in your car. Of course, you could just drain it, drop the pan and measure it.....

Yes the extra oil is out, and the dipstick level is now exactly where it should be..

The engine drives absolutely fine as it did when i had the extra in there.. I guess I'll never know.. I was down at the Audi service today and even just asked them and told them what happened omitting the 1500 miles driven. They didn't seem to know either on how much is too much.

Perhaps i slightly reduced the life of the engine? If any damage was done I probably wouldn't know till later on.. So for now I'm just going to get over it.
