Default Probably an easy/dumb question

Hi I have a 2002 Audi A4 with about 86,000 miles on it. It's nice outside now so I have started to drive with the windows down. I have started to notice a squeaking noise when I drive over bumps or uneven pavement. The car drives fine, to the best of my knowledge, but it is irritating .

Does anyone know what this could be?

Thanks!

Squeking noise could be so many different things in any car.

But since it is only over bumps, the first thing I would check is your shocks...how old are they and how many miles do they have on them? Is the dust boot worn or gone?

This is one of those things that if it is something so minute that you will never be able to find it, do the radio fix....turn the volume up louder..LOL

haha I already do that with the radio

I'll have what you recommended checked out at my next oil change. I don't know how old the shocks, boots etc are.

Hey btw do you know if there are any negative side effects of remapping the cars ecu?

When you say "remapping the ecu", I assume you mean flashing the computer in the car. In my experience I have never gone with a canned tuned...just never trust them...I have a tuner who I trust and have done research on take care of anything like that for me.

I am sure others, will jump in with more info who have had this done or done this to thier cars at some point...my plan for mine, is to keep it stock (performance wise) for a while.

Your tuner probably would be lost trying to tune a ME.7 Bosch ECU. It is not easy like Japanese cars. The off-the-shelf stock turbo tunes work great for our cars.

OP, sounds like control arms

thanks for all the reply's, I guess I'll just crank the speakers (who wouldn't in the summer). Yea, don't know if anyone is familiar with Washington State, but there's a good shop called Achtuning, they charge $500 for APR's stage 1 ecu software. However, they recommended a new/aftermarket diverter valve, dunno how necessary that is.
