Preparing to Chip - suggested maintenance?
Hello All,
I've been combing through this forum a lot lately, and after hearing all the positive feedback from nearly everyone, I've decided to chip my 2003 A4 1.8T Quattro. I'm pretty eager to do it.
Many people have written in with advice if you're going to chip your car, one recurring theme is to replace the stock DVs with something a little more significant so that it can handle the increased pressure. That's on the docket for this weekend for me. And Ialso plan on checking (and probably repalcing) the vacuum hoses.
Is there any other maintenance or things that I should check/ test/ replace before I go ahead? I've searched through the Forums with no luck in finding a kind of "check list" of to-dos before chipping.
Thanks for the help!

Besides the DV there isn't anything to do before chipping. You'll need to regap the plugs once it's done though. And a coilpack might go out too but not always.

pick up some hitachi E coilpacks, DV and if you are at or around 50k, definitely fuel filter (my pump went at 60k) and new air filter if its been awhile
what company did u decide to go with? and are u getting 1+ or just stage 1?

Thanks for the quick responses. This is all very helpful, so thank you again.
I'm going to go with the APR chip. The combination of an APR dealer being close by and the solid reviews and descriptions of a smooth rideare thetwo main reasons why I'm choosing APR.
For the time being, I'm just doing stage 1. Don't really have the funds to do stage 1+ at the moment. Starting with babysteps, and if I find myself overjoyed with the improvements, then I'll go from there.

i would highly advise you to get some of the OEM tt225 386cc injectors from manguyen, PM him here or on audizine... the flash is the same price and the injectors are only $340-360 i think(tell him i sent you over, he will hook it up for u, i got mine in 2 days!)
you will get a load more torque! you will barely notice stage 1
also you wont need anything else besides a DV to get it... later you can get a test pipe (go ahead and get the test pipe file from APR)
i was bored of the 1+ in a week, i cant imagine the stage 1... plus if u want to upgrade later u will have to pay for another flash upgrade charge... install them yourself in the parking lot... apr has a DIY on their site, took me 20min
