car gave symptoms of a coilpack failure on the way to work monday, barely made it to my shop and pulling into the parking lot it died on me. started it back up and instantly it reved to around 3 grand, then fluctuated between 3000 and 1700 and then it will die (running lean?), it did this before replacing the spark plugs and after replacing the plugs (they are gapped correctly). i also added two new coilpacks swapping them from cylinder to cylinder to see if i got a different result in the way it runs and nothing. im gonna try getting two more coilpacks and see if it that is the problem but from what ive been reading it could be numerous other things. until i vag com it i will not know exactly what, but im looking for anymore input on obvious things that might cause it to stall out. maf? crankshaft sensor?

 

figured out my issue was a vacuum line leak, searched hoses and found it so its running good for now
