ok the 27th was my birthday and i hop in my a4 right after i get my licence.. im driving along and i look at my dash and the check engine light is on. my car has 66,xxx miles on it. what minor things can it be becuase i hope its not major.

 

Dont worry that much... CEL comes on when computer thinks something is wrong with your car. The most common problem is spark plugs and coilpacks. But without the codes, if you dont see anything wrong with the car its hard to say. Go to any AutoZone and ask them to scan your car for FREE.

 

Happy birthday. My light comes and goes from time to time. If my car is parked for a few days when I start it the engine will misfire a few times before running normally. When this happens it take a few days and 50 miles or so for the light to go out. I have never seen the light go out. I have only noticed that it isn't on anymore. This make me think that it will stay on as long as the car is running, but will not come back on after the next start. I would drive it for few days before worrying. If you just got your license, I bet you have already driven 50 miles.

 

hummm and what was the fault code ( probably minor isue because the car is running ok ) best to check though
