Oil Pressure light, does this mean sludge?
My son just bought a 03 A4, it seemed to be well taken care of and has no issues until now. Mind you the oil was always Synthetic and was just replaced with filter before he bought it. He bought it 9 days ago.
After about 30-45 minutes of driving the Oil Pressure light now comes on and goes off periodically. Seems to do it most on inclines or hilly roads. He stopped driving the car just to be safe. I heard of the recall but it stops at 120k, and the car has 124K and Audi said we are on our own....
We are getting the oil pressure checked today just to see how the pressure is.
Is there anything we can do this ourselves to eliminate the issue without going broke.
Appreciate any help you can give.

could be as simple as a sensor bugging out, or some small amount of sludge building up in the pan preventing optimal oil flow on inclines like you say.
if it is intermittent-i'd lean toward sensor. try to get some diagnostics done and see if the oil pressure sensor is throwing any codes.
there's a wonderful diagnostic software suite called vagcom-look into getting this if you plan on keeping the car around for a while. it'll save you a ton of headaches and cash if you're the DIY type

Took the car to a referred local Garage, they diagnosed it with low Oil Pressure.
Talked them down to 440 to take care of the pick up tube, money well spent to have a piece of mind. The car is really a sweet ride, hopefully after this my son can enjoy it....

Oh ya, of course.
We picked up the car yesterday from the garage and got great news.
They said when they pulled the pan the bottom of the pan was spotless and and there was no sludge build up at all. Turns out is was a bad sensor..But it was sure great to hear that the pan was clean and that it never had bad pressure...

I have a 2000 A4 and a 2004 a4 with combined 325,000 miles. you MUST be able to read the diagnostic codes yourself and change things like sensors. Or you might spend $440 to change a $30 oil level sensor which is a simple job, done with the front wheels on ramps. Welcome to the world of Audi - maintenance will become a hobby.

hartsoe is right. If u arent willing to do a bit of wrenching on the car expect to have alot of curse words thrown its direction. The internetz has lots of great diy articles on this platform though and the community is always very helpful!
