Oil leak need advice
Ok so first my trick.. I had an oil leak I couldn't find..filthy under the hood so I took it in for an "estimate" and got it back cleaned free of charge
Ok but the found the leak to be coming from the dipstick tube????
It's in 2 parts and held together with a rubber hose...I looked up dipsticks and I did find them in 2 different assemblies is this normal?
Should there be a clamp? Any one else have this issue and what is done to fix it?

That orange plastic part is about 10 inches long. I wonder if yours broke in half and the previous owner put a piece of rubber tube in place to hold it together? That would be the only reason a rubber hose would be on that plastic tube.
You should have a metal tube coming upwards out of the block. On top of that is where this orange plastic tube would go. There is an O ring that helps seal the plastic tube to the metal tube, but they snap together. There are serrations on the plastic tube that will clip on to the metal one.
Sounds like you have a shop that can replace that tube for you. It should cost you 12.20 retail for the tube from your local dealer. We sell it for 7.56 plus shipping of about 5.50 priority mail. If this is all you need it makes sense to buy local and get it replaced by your shop. I would love to help you out if needed. Thanks, Jeff.

That's correct, a broken dipstick tube or missing dipstick can make the idle not as smooth as it should be. I remember removing the oil cap on a perfectly running engine and having the idle become noticeably different. Doing that introduces an air leak into the engine, but like you said, through the pcv system.

Only reason I'm posting this one is because I can truthfully say This was the previous owner....
Ok
1) missing clip
2) electrical taped center crack
3) broken base
4) 5) 6) rubber tube with zip tie (doing nothing) can't see in picture but the rubber hose isn't even the same size as the tube.
