I just posted this same thing in another thread, but if the guy hasn't decided, here's some more info to make your choice more difficult...
Alright, the car is "finally" the way it should have been from the factory...
I installed the sprint booster - WEIRD - I thought at first it just increased the rpm at any given speed, so the car was more in the sweet-power range, but it didn't. Suffice to say, it DID work - but seems like it helps more so at lower RPM ranges - up to about 3300rpm - car does as advertised, almost "lurches" forward.
This is hard to explain, but it seems like the sprint booster (I have a 6-speed manual) works for "a" gear. So, if you take off in first gear, the car doesn't seem to have as much "sprint boost" when shifting to 2nd. However, if you just ease into 1st gear, and shift to 2nd and punch it, the "sprint boost" seems to help propel the car. Hard to explain, but basically, it seems like the SB will help the car accelerate in which ever gear you decide to really accelerate hard...
Car feels awesome - VERY GLAD I got a 3.0 at this point. I drove a B6 S4 last week while waiting for my car to be ready (only had it a week). IF the 3.0's power wouldn't "run out" it would feel like a B6 S4. I know, a rudimentary comparison. what I'm trying to suggest is that the two cars accelerate similarly (not exactly the same) at lower speeds, now that I've chipped the car and have the sprint booster installed. But, once you hit about 45mph + - , the 3.0 has no where near the acceleration, due to the displacement of the big 4.2 V8....
Does anybody have a dyno pull of a 3.0 with/without a chip, and a B6/7 S4?
The chip + the sprint booster are the way to go - feels like a different car then when I got it. I just hope these two "mods" don't negatively impact the engine....
Best,
Quad
