kind of a noon question but are you talking about scanning for check engine problems? cause there haven't been any lights pop up.

well u can take it to autozone and ask a guy there to scan ur car. Even though their are no lights it might still pull something up. there is a small plug near your left foot if u look near where the manaul is suppose to be. that is where they plug into.

If you changed your fuel filter your fuel pump might go out soon... just a thought. On the Jerking, what transmission are you? Manual 5 or 6 speed? Automatic? Front Wheel drive? Quattro?

also, check the bolts holding the turbo down and in place. if those have wiggled loose then you will have an air leak...car wont be able to decide the correct air to fuel ratio causing this...

Alright, so I went to autozone, and the guy told me that they don't scan cars anymore in the state of california and its been that way for the past 3 years, so I couldn't get that done.

Dan1969, I am fwd automatic with cvt.

Your transmission might be going out, you need to scan it with a VAG-com tool. Don't change the fluid on the transmission just yet because that causes it to go out almost immediatly.

I forgot to mention. the jerking doesn't happen when the engine is cold. The car runs perfect in the early mornings or when the car hasn't been run for awhile. once the engine heats up usually 5-10 mins after first starting up, that's when it seems to struggle.

Secondary Air pump? You won't know until you scan it with the VAG-com and start going from there or else you'll just be looking blindly.

I have the same issue with my '02 A4 1.8T. At low RPMS(below 2,000), the RPM needle jumps, but once above 2,000 it runs smooth. No codes, no CEL. The dealer replaced the vacuum hoses but no change.
