Mystery Box
Hi All, new to this forum.
2002 A4 1.8T Quattro
Can you help me identify this? Found it underneath a custom subwoofer box in the spare tire well. I will be replacing the spare tire and tool set and need to figure out what to do with this object.
Thank you!

This is like some X-Files **** haha! Maybe a water/meth injection resevoir??? At a loss on this one but I'm really curious to know what that is.
Remove red hose from the top of the box at the clamp and see if it smells or see exactly what the substance that hose is meant to transport looks or smells like, swab inside of tube with a Q-tip. Wouldn't stick my nose straight to it gently with your hand kind of waft the air around the hose or box and see if it smells like anything always better to error on the side of caution i guess...

looks like some kind of out of place emissions device, like a charcoal canister or something. have you disconnected the hose thats connected to it? mabe if you did the car would throw an evap code or something to help you figure it out. ive never seen that before.

I'll disconnect the hose and see what's inside tonight. There is a placard on the bottom of the box that gives instructions for draining. The pipes going in and out go out through the bottom of the trunk panel to somewhere else in the car. The subwoofer box in the trunk was specifically made to fit around this thing.
More pictures to come.

As I will be replacing the spare tire and tool set, it would be nice to have a reference photo for what the compartment looks like stock, both with tire in and out so I can see the bottom of the tire well. Anyone with a B6 available to snap a few photos of for me?
Thanks,

I think since you still don't have an answer, throw this post into the tech thread. There are guys here that should know this immediately and just are not checking your post because of title and location.
