They called techline, its basically a group of engineers in Michigan that tells them what to do when they can't figure it out. They just want to make sure that you didn't tamper with the engine at all. i.e. check for chips, or modifications. They might send a techincal director for that area out to check the car, which is one of the smartest people in the country when it comes to audis. If that all checks out and the director verifies that the dealership is at fault they will fix it no matter what. Audi is actually really good about that, better than their VW bretheren. If you haven't played with the car don't worry about it.

Only thing I have ever done it take off the plastic engine cover and look at the coils. And change the air filter.

They called this morning asking my permission to further disassemble my engine to find the exact cause of failure.

Obviously I said yes, because otherwise the warranty probably wouldnt cover and I would still have a car that doesnt work properly.

Said they would call me tomorrow......

Dude, I hear ya, I love the car. But, if its little brother can stay at my house and not need to be repaired all the time, Volkswagen here I come.

Speaking of VW, is the A4 engine a VW engine?

The 1.8T is used in several VWs - the Golf, the Jetta, and the Passat.

Just talked to the dealer, said the thermostat failed which caused the HG to fail.

Gonna find out on Monday if the cylinder head is warped or not.

Interesting since it wasn't overheating............It makes sense though because if audi found out it was caused by misfires that the dealer couldn't fix, audi of america would make that dealer pay the bill. Sounds like the service manager has been thru this song and dance before LOL.

At this point, I could care less if they tell me the flux capacitor was malfunctioning.

So long as I get my car back and the damn thing is fixed.

My wife actually mentioned today that it would be cool to get a 2011 A4, I agree. Just have to see what the checking account says lol.

Talked to the dealer today.

Good news is the cylinder head isnt warped. Bad news is the cylinder head is cracked.

Guy from the warranty people are coming today to check it out and figure out exactly what they are paying for, but they will pay.

Said he hopes it is ready for me on friday, personally I am thinking tuesday.
