I just bought this car yesterday.... I woke up this morning and the hood latch release would not open the hood. I took the cable off of the lever and tried to pull it with some pliers and it still wouldn't open. What is the deal? It worked yesterday and today, NOTHING! I am taking it in the morning to my guy to keep for a few days while I'm out of town. I am also going to have him look into why the temp guage only works part of the time. Maybe a bad sensor.

BTW...thanks for the input about the brake fluid. I would fill it up, but I can't open my hood!!!!

 

The cable probably fell off the hood latch, in that case you would need a super long screwdriver to open from under the car, or you can try and pry off the front grill to get at it.

 

have u tried to just bump the hood and see if it wakes up.

 

I forgot to put the cable back into the latch one time under the hood after having it all apart........ ended up prying the grill off with a screwdriver, then taking a huge iron bar and prying the hood up and bent the frame enough so that i could reach the screws which aloud me to lift it up enough to get my hand under the hood and reattach the cable so i could release the latch. it was mangled pretty bad and you can tell it got fucked up but it's not too bad now that i strightened it back out, still need to try to get he hood to lineup again.........

all the other treads i found on this used ether a large bar (pry bar) like i did, one guy even said he used the jaws of life to get his open after the cable fell out of the latch.... don't know if he was joking or not.
