more problems... :(
i just got my 1.8t back from the shop where it had its oil pick up tube replaced, the knocking/ticking noise i was complining about a while back went away after a few miles of driving. so about 2 hours after picking up my car, i go to shift into 3, and right before i put in the clutch (at about 4400 rpm) i heard a pop and what sounding like dragging metal or some sort of metal on metal grinding noise. so i pull over to the side and i have it in nuetral, i put it in first and when i let out the clutch and get on the accelerator both the rpm and speedometer needles start rising but the car will not move, and the grinding sound will just get louder and faster. i had it towed back to the same shop but i have yet to hear back from them, what do you guys think happened? i just replaced the clutch so i know its not that, pedal feel is still strong and all gears shift smoothly, it just wont move and the two needles start dancing when i try to accelerate. its a 2002 A4 1.8T with 136k

whewww just got a call back from my mechanic, turns out i made a mistake when replacing the clutch back in april, i didnt tighten the cv joints to the tranny to the right torque specs and at speed the driver side cv joint bolts all fell out causing it to become dislocated from the tranny. thus the grinding/dragging metal sound and the whole path of least resistance thing causing the other 2 drive shafts not to spin. what a relief, he said its a 10 minute job and will look over the work i did on the clutch to make sure that everything is in check, im so relieved its not a pressure plate or blown tranny or anything
