Default Missfire HELP

04 a4 1.8t misssfire
Went to the dealer hoping for the prob. To be covered under xtened warr. But found 3 problems cam tensioner, radiator, and a bad Breather Hoses. The first 2 covered however the breater hoses were not so they told me 748.00 parts and labor to fix. So told them do fix warr. Items and leave the other.
Got the car home found the breater hose , At Oil Filter Housing (Mfg Part# 06A103213AM) was bad I replaced and now Iam still getting missfires at idle and power loss. I took all hoses and valve out and inspected all looked ok.
Not sure where else to look.
Any Ideas… I checked the coil packs and pulled 1 at a time with no change.

Hey... I'm having a similar issue. I just changed out the four coils today one by one and I had no change. I'm not sure but I may just go down and replace all four... sure $100 verses $25 sucks but I'm hoping it works. My car sounds like chugging and like its gonna die out when its idling. I'm not sure, I'm trying to figure out the issue before I bring it in on Wed morning. Let me know if anything else comes up.

Did you try pulling the plud on each coil pack one at a time?
If you pull one and it gets worse that one is good....but if you pull one and it stays the same change that one. Good luck.

I did... I just changed all of the coil packs. Nothing changed... the engine is still bogging down and being weird. What else could this be?

Is better to get the codes if you suspect erratic behavior, Auto Zone will do it for free or unless you have a friend with the VAG-COM to retrieve the codes.

The code I'm getting is a 0300 generic missfire code.

P0300? Apparently that's a very generic code, I searched around and all I found said to do the coilpacks, spark plugs and leak test, some places even said to check the fuel cap. Maybe your spark plugs are next if you already did your coil packs, after doing the plugs clear your error messages and try agian.

Plug #2 and 3 from front(1) to back(4) have oil in the socket as well as on the coil packs.
Not sure what that is from unless it wast there from where the dealer did the cam tensioner.
I could try new plugs but there was already no change from pulling coil pack wires.

Could Maf cause missfires?

If the dealer was there chances are that they messed up your head gasket as this the only thing I think it could be, I could be wrong. The oil in the plugs would cause them to foul and not work, hence your power loss. I'd give the dealer a ring and tell them what's going on to have them fix it.

Thanks Dan I'll have to talk to the dealer.
