Messed up big time!!!!!Clutch problem!!!!
So I pretty much did one of the dumbest things possible! I was leaving a friends house saturday night and on my way home there where no cars on the road so i decided to be an idiot. I was going about 128mph on an empty back road near my house and started to hit some bumps in the road. The car started to hop and was getting a little loose and i was approaching a slight curve. The turn came up much quicker than expected and I pressed the brakes very hard. The brakes didn't grab at first so my first reaction was to downshift. Well when i downshifted the engine revved very high (I didn't see exactly but it was way passed redline) Luckily I didn't crash but right after that my clutch is now screwed! It holds fine but it wont release enough to let me shift. When im sitting still I will push the clutch pedal to the floor and jam it into 1st the car creaps forward with the clutch fully depressed. I spoke to some guys at work and they said one of the springs in the clutch may have popped out and is wedged between the pressure plate and clutch. I was thinking it may be the slave cylinder. Any advise or personal experiance with this would be greatly appreciated, and please, I know what I did was not safe and stupid! Also if due have to replace the clutch I am going to get a lighter fly wheel, what weight would you recommend.

Hard to say, its most likely the clutch. If you suspect the slave cylinder get your butt under the car and look at the slave cylinder and see if it has fluid all over it.
If it doesn't, its time to pull the tranny out.

I'm gonna throw it up on the lift tomarrow and check it out. I am just not looking forward to pullng out the trans and spending all that money on a clutch. Anyone have good recomendations on a clutch and flywheel combo. should I go with an aftermarket one like southbend or get n rs4 clutch. I do plan on going BT in the future.

spec clutch
if you need a clutch, I have a Spec clutch and flywheel I'll sell you
I was going to put it in my car this summer, and I ran into a lot of problems and just put a stock clutch back in, I now know what the problem we were having was and can give you instructions on how to install it properly. The clutch was NEVER DRIVEN.
here is the clutch and flywheel combo i got:
http://www.ngpracing.com/store/index...product_id=232
the state 1 spec clutch for use with a single mass fly wheel, and the flywheel I have is the aluminum one.
email me at: yousufj2@gmail.com if you're interested

Pulling the tranny on a 1.8T A4 is pretty damn easy, it shouldn't be a big deal.
As for the clutuch if you plan on going BT, don't buy anything lower than stg4 from southbend, and RS4 clutch would also be questionable with a BT set up.
Mike at http://shop.dthaus.com/main.sc might be able to hook you up, PM him, his name is Mike@DTH
