Increase MPG?
I'm new here, mostly hangout on vwvortex but anyway I just bought an a4 1.8t FWD with 10k miles and I'm lovin it.
Is there any tips or mods (that will pass smog in california) to increase my mpg?
I just filled up my tank and it cost me $74 full tank. Gas is B*tch now these days

RE: Increase MPG?
All I can say is the FWD is going to help you on gas, sucks its not a Quattro though...
another way (though I have not heard good or bad on here, admittedly I haven't looked on AF, so feel free to yell at me) is to use a lower weight engine oil, and to inflate your tires to the max that the sidewall says. The intake and exhaust are also good, yet more expensive. Look up hypermiling:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypermiling
Key parameters to maintain are high tire pressure, tire balance and wheel alignment, and engine oil with low kinematic-viscosity referred to as low "weight" motor oil, which is filled just to the low-level mark. Inflating tires to the maximum recommended air pressure means that less energy is required to move the vehicle. Under-inflated tires can lower fuel efficiency by approximately 1.4 percent for every 1 psi drop in pressure of all four tires.

RE: Increase MPG?
since the weather has gotten warmer, I have had much better MPG, it also went up a tad when I added revo software way back... or you could just drive like a grandma and that will improve your mileage a lot
