How do you know if you have Bi-Xenon headlights?

Ok, probably a dumb question but I heard that there is a shutter inside the headlamp assembly. I have the xenon but if they're bi-xenon then when I turn on the highbeam that should also be xenon correct? And it is when I do it, so then what is the point of the other halogen headlamp inside the housing?
I've had a few drinks tonight so maybe I'm just being retarded...

RE: How do you know if you have Bi-Xenon headlights?
U got 2 choices of a highbeam with bixenons. The regular and xenon. U use regular when u wanna flash someone, cause they can see it much better than the xenon during the day, alsowhen it rains/snows cause sometimes it is better to have aregular halogen one. You got xenon to use that at night if u need to see far away.

The Bi-Xenon headlamps have a larger lens circumference as far as the outer projector beam is concerned. The lens only has about a centimeter or slightly less of a border. The standard xenon assemblies have a smaller lens.

No, i dont have bixenons myself on my car, but my friends e90 330i came with them, so there is basically an extra sapce on that lightswitch... So he can switch between two highbeams.

I was just giving you a hard time.
I think that the halogen's that are next to the headlamps are so that you can highbeam in the daytime. If you think about it, the bi-xenons are useless to highbeam with during the day because the headlamps are off. By the time they warmed up and flashed, it'd be too late.
So I think I just answered my own question..
