How badly am I hurting my car?
Alright, so I have a 1.8T with the Revo 2 BI file and I was wondering how detrimental it is to the stock turbo/engine. I was talking with one of my buddys and he said that I'm crazy to be holding boost at 18psi ish and peeking over 20 with the stock internals because I'm going to cause detonation (Yes I'm ignorant, I don't have a clue what that means) and other problems which will kill my engine. He was saying I may be able to run that much boost if I had a new intercooler/new internals, but he said I'm definitely going to kill my engine if I'm compacting that much hot air with the stock intercooler into my engine. My friend is a BMW guy so is he fulfilling the stereotype of just being a douche with a BMW, or does he know what he's talking about? I know alot of people with B6s are running a BI file with just an upgraded DV valve and I haven't heard too many horror stories from them so I'm skeptical of his comments. How can my turbo even run that much boost, whenever I tell someone how much I'm boosting their always shocked (unless it's a fellow audi enthusiast). I'm sorry if you guys have to put up with my lack of knowledge, but I'm here to learn so enlighten me.

LOL, do u know how many people run the same file (or similar to this)??? A lot!!!
you are running 18psi on k03 turbo, which is a very small one. Indeed you are putting more stress on your engine, but this stress is minimal.
