Homelink Troubles
I have a 2004 A4 3.0 with factory Homelink in the visor. The three buttons have power because I can see they are lit, but the LED never lights up when I press any of the three buttons. I've tried the reset by holding buttons 1 and 3 but still get nothing. I thought maybe the light was just out so I tried teaching it but that also did not work.
Yesterday I took the pass headlight out to check the transmitter and it was installed and the wiring seemed to be in good condition.
Has anyone else had a problem like this? Do you have any thoughts for what else I can do to find my problem?

I had a similar problem with the Homelink on my 2002 A4. It turned out that the +12 VDC supply wire to the transmitter was broken. The location of the break was behind the bumper, in an area where the wires were taped up for some reason. I forget the exact location, but it wasn't hard to get to. I know I had the passenger side headlight removed so I could get at the transmitter, but I didn't have to take the bumper off to get at it.

sorry for bringing up an old(ish) thread but have you solved this problem? because i just got my 03 and its the same exact problem, with the three lights still lit but the one LED isnt when you need to program. if you could let me know what you figured out that would be great!!!

I have not fixed this problem yet. I have noticed that while driving down the road I can sometimes press and hold any of the buttons and get the LED to flash. I think this means that I just have a loose connection, or a broken wire that sometimes makes contact.
I know the wiring runs from the transmitter (front bumper under passenger headlight) around the car back towards the drivers side, but I have not traced the entire path. If I do take the time to take it all apart I think I will find some broken wires.
Sorry for no final answer, but I would check the plug connection at the transmitter first, then try to trace the wiring.
