High Clutch Engagement

High Clutch Engagement
Sup, ppl.
New to the forum but need your advise. I'm planning to get a 2002 A4 quattro 3.0. I test drove the car and immediately noticed a very high engagement of the clutch, at least 3 inches depressing the pedal from the floor before it engages. Is this normal for Audis? This is my first time getting an Audi and I don't know if this is a sign of worn out clutch.
I also noticed that the acceleration of 3.0 is kinda slow compared to BMW 330xi. The car got 115,xxx miles already and I'm thinking there might be something wrong in the engine itself.

My 1.8T's clutch definitely engages higher in the pedal's travel than some other manual transmission cars I've driven, so either mine's messed up and my mechanic has never said anything about it even though he's driven it several times or it's normal for Audis.
Regarding the acceleration, I haven't driven a 3.0 or a BMW 330xi, so I can't be much help there. At 115K miles, there could be some issues lurking, but I wouldn't assume anything without getting it inspected (which of course you should do anyway if you're interested in the car - knowing exactly what you're getting into is always a good thing).

I ended up not getting the car. I didn't like the high engagement point of Audi (if this is normal), it doesn't feel natural. As far as the engine, BMW's are much sportier to drive even the shifter feel. Hope they fixed it on newer models.

I'm looking at an 03 1.8t now, mileage is 105K. Extremely clean and paint is like new. Inside is mint. Clutch engagement is definitely lower than the 3.0 I checked out last time. Tires still got a lot of meat. A lot of options, for $7K.
Only downside is it got an accident (light damage on right side of car) shown on carfax. It also dealer serviced as shown on carfax. What do you guys think? Is $7K still high?
