Hesitates after a stop!

Hesitates after a stop!
I've got an 2004 A4 that has the diode/ MBC setup(thanks CincyTT). the car runs awesome under every condition except the following. About 20% of the time when I come up to a stop sign or slightly pause to proceed into traffic, the car totally acts like I'm not giving it any gas to accelerate. It seems like the computer is not reading that I just pushed the accelerator. It seems to take about 2 seconds before the car responds then it runs normal. It's definitely not the normal turbo lag. Is this a problem anyone else has or am I an isolated case. Could it be the drive-by-wire setup Audi uses?
Just a little history on the car. Bought used 1-1/2 year ago with 45,000 mi. Now have 92,000. Put new Coil packs, plugs and fuel filter when purchased. Car has always performed flawlessly before and after the diode/MBC setup, so I know this has nothing to do with the problem. The car has done this from the day I purchased the car. Does anyone have a clue why this happens?????

I think you have discovered the CVT symptom!
I have the same issue with my 05 3.0 V6. If I hit the brakes then the car won't acknowledge when I press the gas pedal. I found that lag to be extremely dangerous!!!

Re: Hesitates after a stop!
This is a very common problem with tiptronic. My car (2002 A4 Quattro) does the same under low outside temperatures. Once the car is warmed up, this problem disappears. Knowing that this happens, I usually use manual shifting in cold mornings.

No, its not. How do you know this is a common problem? So whats the problem hot shot?

I have the same problem, and the same car. I'll 2nd his opinion. Other research on this board shows others have the same issue. Not necessarily a problem, just how it is.

nah, i have an 02 3.0 quattro, and i have the same type of hesitation at times. to me it's just not a big deal b/c i know the car enough by now to know how it's going to respond. i don't think it has anything to do with being a 4 or 6 cyl.

Ok, do you have a quattro? Or is it FWD? Because if its a FWD then its called a CVT which IS a common problem which is what i was getting at.
