Help pls! CTV transmission gone, trying to salvage 2002 A4!
Thank you all in advance for your input and ideas, I'm new to the forum and desperately need help. My situation is this: I have a 2002 A4 with 134k miles and for the last 4 years, its been having all sorts of problems, but it all culminated recently with the tranny just going out of business. PRND flashing, can't go in reverse, the constant jerking, the whole ordeal that I have seen in many forum topics.
However, my car has also had constant electrical problems with one headlight and/or turn signals not working most of the time. On top of that, I have had to add steering fluid every few weeks due to a small leak in one of the tubes.
I just took it to two independent dealers and they both told me the same thing, it needs a new TCM. Now, for a car that's worth about $4500 according to KBB, a new TCM is not worth it at all.
My question is this: Is there any way I can get any money outta my car, I would be happy with just $2500. Would you guys suggest selling it for parts, and if so, how do I go about doing that? Or would shops pay for it, fix it, and resell it for their own profit? Any opinions would help, I'm desperate and car-less!

Parts is likely your most profitable route for disposing of it. If you decide to go down that path, take good photos of everything so people know what they're getting, and let us know on here; I'm sure I'm not the only one who might be interested in some bits and pieces if they're in good shape.
