help! noise in rear

Exclamation help! noise in rear

i have a 02 a4 1.8t and it just started making a noise on me, it seems to sound like it is coming from the right rear wheel well more of a computer, pump sound? at first its really loud sounding like it is pumping to openning a valve to release air? then it stops and there is a slight whine, please help me i just bought the car 2 weeks ago

fuel pump? there was a recall for that model year. check to see if it was done. put your ear on the rear passenger seat and see if you hear the noise as well

Whinning noise? If yes, prolly a fuel pump. ThreePointOhhh is right, call any Audi dealer or AOA and see if there was a recall on yours

The fuel pump is making the noise, but its not because the fuel pump is bad. Its because the fuel filter is clogged causing the fuel pump to strain. The recall to replace the fuel pump has nothing to do with noises.

oh ok, well i had mine replaced around 34k... but auditech is right. I've heard of the fuel filter causing the strain on the fuel pump. have it checked out soon.

well about 320 dollars later a new fuel filter and 3.5 hours of my life sitting at the dealer, i didnt want to drive far with the filter bad so i decided to have them do it, 70 for the filter and 230 for the labor.... damn, well now shes runnin like a champ

damn... you could've saved yourself 230 bucks... well glad to hear that you got it taken care of
