help! noise in rear
i have a 02 a4 1.8t and it just started making a noise on me, it seems to sound like it is coming from the right rear wheel well more of a computer, pump sound? at first its really loud sounding like it is pumping to openning a valve to release air? then it stops and there is a slight whine, please help me i just bought the car 2 weeks ago

The fuel pump is making the noise, but its not because the fuel pump is bad. Its because the fuel filter is clogged causing the fuel pump to strain. The recall to replace the fuel pump has nothing to do with noises.

oh ok, well i had mine replaced around 34k... but auditech is right. I've heard of the fuel filter causing the strain on the fuel pump. have it checked out soon.
there's also a diy from audizine if you're not too bad at wrenching....
