help! the mold smell is back in the a/c
can anyone help me on this?
i first tried the einszett klima cleaner foam that u insert the nozzle in the center vents as instructed. i thought this solved the issue cause it says its suppoed to kill any mold/fungus/bacteria in the coils. but it came back in just a little over a week.
i then went to the dealership and they charged me $150.00 for the service. i thought ok, perhaps they have a better product that will get rid of it once and for all. wouldnt you know it, not even a week goes by and the smell came back. now im pissed at the dealership for something that didnt get fixed. all they did too was spray some anti-bacterial into the air inlet right where the cabin air filter sits ( the filter is new btw, i changed it myself). rather then go back and have them charge me another $150.00 i decided to see online if there was a product out there to get rid of the mold and that i could do myself again. i came upon this item called "pure-air" and i bought it at murrays auto discount. it said to apply the same way that the dealership did it thru, which i did. i saved me $140.00 - hooray for me.
but damn it, you guessed it, the mold smell is back!! but this time it seems to last for the first few seconds or so when the a/c initially starts up.
why does this mold keep coming back and why so fast???
can anyone recommend a permanent fix? i have owned domestic cars in the past and not one of them have had this kind of problem before. im not mad at my audi, im mad at the damn mold!! ggrrrrr.

Well, its not a 'domestic' or 'foreign' thing.. You need to see why the evap coil isnt draining the way its suppose too. There is a drain hole.
You can also try turning the a/c off with the blower on for a few minutes before shutting off the car to dry out the coil.

I agree that the problem is that you can't get rid of mold completely if you don't contact professionals. I used to have the same problem, and you can't even imagine how many times I tried to clean it myself, but on;y when I decided to contact mold remediation services, the mold was gone, so I think you should work with professionals as well.

I appreciate your advice, author. Mold removal is one of several steps in the process of mold treatment in basement, albeit is an essential one. To ensure that mold doesn't recur in the future, more efforts must be made, such as making repairs or replacements for the current damage, or preventative measures like dehumidifiers.
