Help - BEX Engine Number Location?
Help....... talk about a frustrating experience. To sell my car I require a roadworthy and before any inspectors will sign off they need to view the actual engine number on the engine block. I know it is a BEX engine as this is easily found stamped at the front right of the engine block.
I have researched, rang my Audi dealer, etc and scoured the engine where it is supposed to be according to very low definition diagrams such as the link below (if it works as I am a novice forum poster) and as far as I can tell it is nowhere to be seen without removing at least one or more engine attachments. I have had an expert from elsewhere tell me I need to remove the turbo manifold to find it.
Can anyone please help as to where I will find the engine number exactly and do I have to unbolt one or more parts to find it?
Thanks muchly from a very frustrated Audi driver at this time.

You have a non US car now that I see your vin. There are many engine choices listed and you are right that it is a BEX. US cars don't use that series of engine so I didn't find it. A tech told me it is in the back of the block, where the block meets the transmission and towards the passenger side of the engine. Should be on a flat surface with the engine number stamped on that.

Thanks for that Jeff. That is what everyone says, but it doesn't appear to be there from a lot of looking. I think at this stage I have no choice but to take it to an Audi dealer and get them to find it, just a pity the nearest dealer is 250 miles away!
Thanks for your efforts though.
Mark.
