i work for volvo as a tech and if the window auto rolls up, reaches the top and then goes back down about 3-4 inches that means the sensors lost calibration. it happend to my a4 when it was 90 last week but it stopped doing it. but my point, if its the same as volvo, it needs to be re initialized.
but if its making noise then its catching, bent, or already locked up. then its most likely a regulator unless someone has been in there before.

Unless the A4 B6 has a function I donâ€™t know about, there isnâ€™t an auto rollup feature. Since my last post this has now started with my passenger window and sun/moon roof when itâ€™s tilted (not retracted). In reply to another comment made regarding outside temperature both incidences were in 80^F temp.

I will inquire with the dealer / service. - As they know I am part of a forum they have been pretty good to me in terms of pricing.

They told me that the key I bought on eBay had only a 10% chance it would work. I let them know that I did my homework. Hmm, - the key worked!!! It pays to be informed. I am glad I joined this forum and that I can enjoy this car without being either a rich yuppie or broke.

i just had problems with my windows fixed yesterday. they said it was the master switch on the drivers door. they work good now, with the exception of the tech crashing my car after pulling it out of the garage. 04 A4 vs. 08 TT = no winner
