I just sold my 99.5 2.8 quattro. I am looking at this 02 3.0 quattro 6 speed manual. I see people list that they get about 25 -30 mpg. Is this true? I was only getting about 18mpg in my b5 but it did have high miles. I would be doing mostly country road driving with city, what kind of gas mileage should I expect?

Also the car I am looking at is a 3.0 with 134,000 miles on it. Are these engine good past this. my 99.5 2.8 had 250,000 miles on it but were mostly highway and never gave me any problems. Can I expect the same with the 3.0?

25-30 is about what I get with my 1.8T. I would expect the 3.0 to be noticeably worse than that.

 

I get about 19-22 city , 25-27 highway with my 02 3.0 6 speed.

 

What about the reliabilty of the engine? Are the 3.0's as good as the 2.8's?

 

You might want to read this post from a recent thread when someone said they were looking for a 3.0.

I don't have direct experience with the 3.0, but when one of our forum's resident Audi Techs says something like that, it has to have at least some credibility.
