Default Exhaust & test pipe questions

02 A4 with tippy here, its got an apr chip + injectors (stage 1+) and i am looking to put an exhaust on it and maybe a test pipe.
I found a link to a borla exhaust kit on here and i am pretty set on that unless people have thoughts.

As for the test pipe i am not sure whether i should get one or not considering the sound & power concerns for the tiptronic. It has the test pipe software on it so passing emissions is not too much of an issue.

How much louder is it generaly with a test pipe? I want to keep the sound reasonable not obnoxious and still civilized. Also will the tip handle that kind of power i am somewhere around 245 & 270 or something like that hp & torque.

If you guys think i should go with the test pipe as well any recomended brands/links?

it IS louder... it is more raspy, and louder at lower rpms.
There are many testpipes available... 3", 2.5", 2"to 2.5" and etc...
whatever u want

The borla is part of the techtonics exhaust correct? I personnally am a big fan of APRs merchandise. The stealth exhaust provides a nice low grumble without being stupidly loud. THey do offer a sport exhaust that deletes one of the 2 mufflers to give a more aggressive sound. AWE also has a nice system. Not sure about the emmisions standards where you left but test pipes wont pass inspection where I am unless you know a lick it and stick it place. Just go HFC in that case.

is it obnoxiously loud though even with resonators and mufflers? also does the size make a difference in sound level and tone?

i found the borla for 700ish so it beats the crap out of just about everything at that price
here's the link from audizine http://borlaparts.com/Borla-Audi-A4-...-p-336748.html

^^^ With stock piping??? Just a bit... With aftermarket exhaust- yes.
The bigger diameter, the more louder it is suppose to be. But then u gotta think about back pressure. 3" exhaust on a stock 1.8t wont be as good (performance) as lets say 2.5".

wow, really?
i am after the performance mostly, sound secondly. I think the stock exhaust note isn't bad sounding, just a bit louder would be nice.

So what do you think just test pipe it and call it a day or put just the exhaust, or say **** it and do both.

I really just don't want to be ricey, or super annoying loud/droning.

Thanks for your help!

well think of this...
lets say u have a 3" testpipe.. and then all this air goes into your stock 2" (or whatever..its small) downpipe and then toyour exhaust... yes your exhaust note will be a bit different, but you wont get as much power out of it like if you would have the whole exhaust.
if u wanna save some $$$, just go custom... there are a LOT of different setups you can go with... you can always add extra resonators to make it quiter.
